mistaken identity

July 30, 2003

I received an interesting random email in what appears to be a case of mistaken identity:

From :
“Robin ******” <*****@ucdavis.edu>

from germany

Brandon,
I hope you still use this address. I found it searching google
for “brandon adamson.” its interesting to see what hits you get with the
names of people you know. by the way, your post on the eyeranian about
the potential attack on iran was very good.

anyway, i tried sending you some mail using darke1313@aol (&msn) .com but
had no success. i asked kris to forward you the email. did he? i also
asked him to send me your address but he never did. let me know which
address you would rather me write to.

My response:

Re: from germany

Dear Robin,

Yes I still use this address, but unfortunately I don’t think I’m the person you’re looking for. (though there are some interesting coincidences in your email). For one thing, girls don’t normally try to track me down from half way around the world. In fact, quite the opposite is usually the case! I’m glad you liked what I wrote on the Eyeranian and best of luck with whatever you’re doing in Germany with microbiology. Hope you are successful in finding whoever it is you thought i was.

best regards,
Brandon

wasn’t made for these times

July 29, 2003

The weekend wasn’t very exciting at all. Nobody contacted me to tell me about Michael’s surprise birthday party Saturday so i ended up showing up after it was over. At least I managed to avoid any uncomfortable social situations. Sunday night I took a cab to the bar, and had a relaxing walk home.

It’s coming up on the end of another era in these next months. I feel pretty sad about it because it was a good one, but i suppose there will always be more. I wonder when I will get to the era that will be the final one…?

uneventful

July 21, 2003

The weekend was rather uneventful. I worked Friday Night. Saturday I drank all afternoon and fell asleep, woke up just in time to go to the bar before it closed. Hardly anyone was there though. Sunday was the same thing. Mostly lounged around all day drinking and listening to The Beach Boys album “Pet Sounds”. Fell asleep sometime in the afternoon, only this time didn’t wake up until 4am, too late to go to the bar or get in contact with anyone.

with the quickness

July 16, 2003

Nothing much to report. I spent the day mostly relaxing.

Someone found my journal by searching for “signs of a misogynist”.

I’d say some common signs of a misogynist are:

1. many female enemies
2. many male enemies who are enemies because they are in cahoots with your female enemies
3. a good judge of character

the die is overcast

July 16, 2003

I certainly enjoyed the overcast outside today. So much so in fact that I drank way too much and fell asleep, woke up at 9:30 and got to work 2 hours late. It’s almost the weekend anyway. It’s going to be delightful.

the hole you’re in

July 11, 2003

Well. I’ve found a place so it looks like i’m finally going to be moving out of “The Whole Year Inn”. Don’t take this as any indication that I’m not leaving this place and going back to West Hollywood. I just decided i might as well slightly improve my quality of life while i’m working my way towards redemption and to being the next Gatsby.

Today I ate at plaid and relaxed most of the day. I can’t wait for the weekend… which for me starts on Saturday since i work third shift.

I know I’m a megalomanic, misogynist male. I’m friendly though, always optimistic, and genuinely happy to see people that i like.
